How can we truly be grateful for our homes if we are always dreaming of the next home improvement project or dream property? There is nothing wrong with having a list of renovations or checking property listings, but when this becomes our obsession, we truly stop seeing the beauty around us. How do we do this in a space that may not feel like home? We encourage you to find a space in the home you love or cherish and observe what makes that space meaningful for you. Start a gratitude journal, and be sure to include what makes you grateful for your current home. Consider supporting a charity or non-profit that supplies resources to those who do not have a home or an optimal living condition.
Properly Care for Your Home
We’ve seen it time and time again where a family doesn’t care for their home and it becomes an absolute nightmare. If we strive to properly steward our homes, we must take care of them through weekly cleaning schedules, routine maintenance, and updates when necessary. This not only allows for your space to be pleasant when you’re residing, but this also can prevent unnecessary maintenance costs as well. When your home is properly cared for, it will be ready to go on the market, if necessary, as well.
Find Ways to Make the Space Yours
Sometimes it is hard to steward our homes when they don’t feel like ours. This can be through the design aesthetic, layout of furniture, or even a paint color. Consider ways you can steward your home through adding your personal style and touche. This can be as simple as a gallon of paint, a new accent chair, or wall art. Be creative, and enjoy the process.
