In this blog post, we would like to provide 5 things to prepare your home for spring as the warmer months are almost here!
#1 A deep, thorough interior clean
Our first recommendation to prepare your home for spring is to do a deep, thorough clean of the interior of your home. Pull out the furniture, the large appliances, and give everything a good dusting and wipe down. Clean the areas of the home that do not get touched on a regular basis. Sanitize where needed. Think about surfaces that do not get touched regularly and focus there.
#2 Vents & Fans
It is crazy how quickly vents and fans fill up with dirt and debris. Not only can this discolor the products in the long term and appear cheap, but it also is a fire hazard if not taken care of properly as well.
#3 Steaming Curtains / Drapes
We’ve never met someone who particularly enjoyed steaming curtains or drapes, yet it makes such a difference. Be sure to read the care instructions on labels first for optimal cleaning and set aside a week where you can go room-by-room tackling this big project.
#4 Give Your Porch / Deck TLC
Grab a broom, dust pan, window cleaner, or even the powerwasher and give your porch and deck areas the TLC they deserve. Tackling these areas early in the spring allows you to then be able to enjoy these spaces when the nice days come. Nothing is worse than carrying out porch furniture on a nice day to a dirty deck area!
#5 Complete a Home Walk-Thru
Our final tip is to complete a home walk-thru where you have the opportunity to evaluate anything needing attention or maintenance. It’s easy to walk past areas of the home and not give a second thought to things that may require additional attention or projects that need to be completed.
